The world of business is full of acronyms - in particular, the world of tenders. Two very common acronyms you may have seen are PQQ and ITT - but what’s the difference? What are the expectations of each?

In this resource, we’ll explain!

Pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ)

So a PQQ stands for pre-qualification questionnaire – here’s some more information on these crucial documents…

What’s the purpose of a PQQ?

To assess the suitability and capabilities of potential suppliers.

What’s in a PQQ?

Typically, a PQQ will ask for case studies to demonstrate how you have delivered similar works previously.

Evidence of safety, quality and environmental accreditations, policies & procedures.

Our top tip for PQQs:

Fully assess the opportunity using a bid no bid tool, to establish whether you can win and deliver work before completing the PQQ.

Invitation to tender (ITT)

An ITT stands for an invitation to tender, and is another crucial aspect of tendering. Here are the key questions, answered…

What’s the purpose of an ITT?

To determine which of the qualifying suppliers will deliver the works to the highest standard, at the best price, whilst meeting all client requirements.

What’s in an ITT?

Typically an ITT will require the tenderer to outline its technical solution and evidence how this will be delivered, along with providing a detailed commercial submission.

This may include producing a full programme, organisation chart and CVs.

Our top tip for ITTs:

Establish a robust response development process, with multiple review stages to ensure the best possible quality of submission.
